Writing Through One of the Hardest Seasons of My Life

A winding dirt path through a prairie wildflower meadow, golden hour light, soft warm tones, wide landscape, lush wildflowers in pink, yellow, and purple on both sides of the path, open sky, serene and poetic atmosphere

I never imagined spending part of my fourth pregnancy in hospital, frightened by dangerously low platelets caused by immune thrombocytopenia.

Why This Matters

When my normal routine stopped, I had time to think about my children, my dad and the things I still hoped to do. Writing gave me a place to put thoughts that were difficult to carry.

The Heart Behind It

I do not believe every painful experience happens for a reason. But sometimes we can choose what we carry forward. For me, it meant continuing my book and pursuing meaningful work in Dad’s memory.

Moving Forward

That season reminded me that purpose does not require perfect circumstances, and that slowing down is not giving up.
